PTA meetings are generally on the first Tuesday of each month, at 6:30 p.m. in the Candalaria library.
Please consider joining the PTA this year! It is a great way to be more involved in your child’s education and get to know other parents. If you have been a member in the past, remember that you must complete a new application each year. A 2017/2018 PTA application is available here.
Membership is not required to attend PTA meetings, but it is required to vote on PTA decisions. Come check it out before you join!
Fees to join are $15 for an individual or $25 for a couple.
Free childcare is provided in the Candalaria gym.
What is the PTA?
The Candalaria PTA is a group of parents, grandparents, teachers, staff and administrators who work together to enrich our students' education and elementary school experience.
We raise money to help fund:
We also raise money each year for capital projects to make big improvements in and around the school. In the past few years, we repaved the school track, added new playground equipment and purchased document cameras and projectors for classrooms. We are currently in search of a new capital project, and will be building our fund reserves toward that end.
Join the PTA and be part of the decision-making process regarding where and how money is raised and spent. Volunteer on a PTA sub-committee to provide an enriching experience to our students. We want you to be a part of what we do!
Top Five Reasons to Join the PTA
#1: Your child benefits. When parents get connected to the school, children get better grades, do better on tests, and have fewer discipline problems. When you build a relationship with your child’s teachers, principal, and office staff, it will be far easier to communicate about any problem (or victory) that occurs throughout the year.
#2: You will be “in the know”. The PTA knows what’s happening with the school, who's involved, and plans many of the school events.
#3: You'll tap into a network. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, to build rapport and discuss issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences to make the school year better for everyone.
#4: Your voice can be heard. PTA can be a way for you to more effectively effect change at your child’s school.
#5: You can show that you care. By becoming a PTA member, you’re also becoming a role model and demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education as well as on being involved in their world.
