Every year we host two Scholastic Book Fairs in the school library. These book fairs offer a wide variety of books for all reading levels and interests. The proceeds from our book fair sales are invested back into Candalaria. For example, this year every student in every classroom received a subscription for Scholastic News, Dyna Math or Storyworks. In past years, we have purchased smart boards and other classroom equipment.
Our Spring Book Fair is scheduled for May 1-5. Each day the fair is open before school 8:30-9:05 am and after school 3:30-4:30 pm. We will also be open during Ice Cream and the Arts on Thursday the 4th from 6-8 pm.
Teacher bins are an important feature of our Candalaria book fairs. The bins contain books selected by your child's teacher that they would like in their classroom library. If you purchase a book for a teacher, you receive a 20% discount on the purchase.
If you don't know what books to buy for your child, our teachers also select books they recommend. Look for signs on the shelves that say "teacher pick" and you will know which teacher has made the recommendation. These teacher picks are usually the first to sell out at our fairs.
If you can't make it to the fair, you can shop our Online Fair.
Thank you for supporting the book fair!
In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday, Candalaria has invited its students to celebrate reading! We have some fun activities planned for our students (and one for family and friends, too.) We are including special dates and activities in which your child can participate. It's going to be an exciting week!
Tuesday, Feb. 28th - Inside Out and Backwards day. Get creative (like Dr. Seuss) and wear your clothes either inside out or backwards - or both!
Wednesday, March 1st - Crazy Hat Day! Dr. Seuss would ove this! Wear your crazy hat for the day.
Thursday, March 2nd - Two things will be happening:
Friday, March 3rd - Spirit Day! Dress Up as your favorite book character
